Cactus Blooms & More
After leaving Havasu, I headed for Pahrump, Nevada. I had been here once before, but I really had not explored the town. I discovered an Agricultural center that focused on plants that grow in the area. Many of them were labeled. They also had a cactus garden with a variety of different cactuses, and they were starting to bloom… of course, I had to get photos.
Some of the blooms were starting to open, making them very interesting subjects. Here are a few of them.

Then some of them were more open…

Of course, I have to add an Ocitillo, which is one of my favorites. This one is very healthy and has both leaves and flowers on it at the same time. Hummingbirds love these flowers. I often see Annas flying around them.
The desert scenery had some awesome clouds…

The golden hour here turns everything orange… even the pebbles on the ground.

This little fella sat patiently while I got several photos of him. As I studied him, he has subtle blue spots and rings on his head. The scales and ridges along his back are amazing to look at. I am glad he tarried for several minutes!
I am starting north, with several stops along the way, so will catch up with you further down the road!

Great newsletter as usual. I was startled by the textural contrasts in the first picture and enjoyed the colors as well. The color and smooth texture of the cactus pad was accentuated by the rim of forming buds along the top edge.
Of course all the pics are beautiful but I just loved that one at first glance.
I appreciate you including us in your "grand adventure". 😉
Wonderful, Sheryl. I read your posts before, but I somehow did not get you living nomadically. Good in you! The pebbles in the last sunlight are such a treat.
